Tourist Visa

  1. For tourist trips to Brazil. Includes visit to relatives and/or friends.
  2. Unpaid participation in athletic or artistic events, competitions
  3. Unpaid participation in a scientific/academic seminars or conferences sponsored by a research or academic institution.

Transit Visa

  1. For foreign citizens stopping or passing by on the way to a third country.

Temporary Visa I

  1. Scientific, technological, research under an international technical cooperation program.
  2. Professorial studies/research/ teaching and/or scientific/ technological activities at an university, research institution or similar organization.
  3. Student exchange program.
  4. Unpaid internship in a program sponsored by a Brazilian government agency or international organization.
  5. Technical learning in the operation and/or maintenance of machinery or equipment produced in Brazil.
  6. Paid participation in Conferences.
  7. Provision of voluntary services to a religious or social assistance organization.

Temporary Visa II (Business Visa)

  1. For business trips to Brazil, including participation in a trade/industrial show a temporary visa II will be required.
  2. For Media coverage or film making.
  3. Adoption of a Brazilian child.
  4. Flight/ship crew members not holding an international crew card (for all other crew members a Temporary Visa V is mandatory).
  5. Attention: this does not apply in case of technical support or provision of services in Brazil.

Temporary Visa III

  1. Paid participation in athletic events.

Temporary Visa IV

  1. Students on an undergraduate or graduate academic studies in Brazil.

Temporary Visa V – Work Visa

  1. Work under a Brazilian-ruled employment contract.
  2. Technical assistance (engineers, geologists, etc).
  3. Internship immediately following the conclusion of undergraduate or graduate studies or for the purpose of teaching English or another foreign language.
  4. Medical residence.

Temporary Visa VI

  1. Media correspondent.

  1. Religious, missionary purposes.

Permanent Visas

  1. Family Reunion.
  2. Foreign investors.
  3. Retirement.
  4. Workers.
